Song (more a poem) about my dad ( an " Ayrshire boy" ) and also about my mother, and my sister),and the beach at Ayr where I spent a lot of holiday time on in my formative years. In this song/poem, my mother is the story teller. She died many years before my dad. The song is about her "wait" for him to come home, which he now has.I meant to say some more at the start of this video, but sometimes easier to "sing" words than to "say" them. I have never really played this song before. My co writer did the music, and a nice piano version. But here, it's just me, in what was once my dad's bedroom, singing for him and my mum, and my and sister. Written about 2 or three years ago,I thought it was time the song the light of day.My Ayrshire Boy © Rejman/StevensonMy Ayrshire boy is coming home,In my arms you chanced to roamI had to leave you on your ownMy Ayrshire boy, time to come homeWe had a love to light the skiesI saw the sea dance in your eyesSoft Scottish sands on which we'd lieMy Ayrshire boy, find wings to flyI loved the redness of your cheeksA country boy, though shy and meekYou fought a war, so the free could speakNow come and find the peace you seekThe Ailsa Craig stands tall and proudMother Nature's trumpet playing loudOn donkey rides, amongst the crowdsOur children played, no thoughts of shroudsNo winds of sorrow, beneath blue skiesSuch happy days ahead would riseBut all that lives must face demiseMy Ayrshire boy, come dry your eyesI watched your tears fall oh so freeSuch tears you cried, thinking of meBut I was waiting, as you seeMy Ayrshire boy, now home with me(repeat verse 1)

  • Thanks, Calim, ma man :)

  • that's great monsieur Macblues, really really nice song, beautiful

  • Thanks, Nancy. Appreciated :) . Yes, ma dad a good man. Worked all his life, ("blue collar"), family was his whole life. Lots of everyday  folks shine so bright, the world does not really see them. I think often of the line from an Albert Hammond song: "if you watch the stars at night, and you see them shining equally bright; well you might have seen Jesus, and not have known what you saw; who would notice a gem in a five and dime store".

The whole world sparkles, we are just  so used to seeing it, we don't notice the sparkle any longer. We need to become little children again, to see it (think Jesus said that first! lol; I'm only saying it in ma own way). Thanks for the pic, Nance. GREAT, and cheered me up.
