First off, I want to thank Waltz Astoria for organizing their songwriting contest. It is a great opportunity and experience for young songwriters. I had a blast competing, as I knew I would. There was some amazing talent and I think that the most deserving musicians progressed to the finals. I would like to congratulate them and commend them on their hard work and dedication to their craft. The on thing I don't appreciate was one of the judges, Jim Lloyd of Jim Llloyd's songwriter's showcase. Rather then saying anything constructive that I could use, started off by saying something to the extent of "I don't get that country twang thing" and then proceed to do nothing but put down country music, a genera that I love. Well, not much I can do about it...but I can write a song about it...so I did! not much of a country fan myself but good stuff there partner got all the essentials and channeling your in man in black never hurts . Good music is just good music no matter the style. Thanks for posting
