Just a relatively quick and dirty test. I will have to get a good mic out and redo at some point. If you wear headphones, you can hear some subtle difference...

  • COOL VIDEO...........

  • Yup, a lot of mass there lol. I do like them on a high-action acoustic, but it's too much for an electric, usually.

    And, np, Mike.

  • Excellent thank you. There is a lowes near me and will be making a stop. Thanks Jay!
  • No problem. I actually get those at Lowe's. I've never found them at HD. They are in the section of hardware with all the drawers. They are just labeled "steel spacer" if I recall correctly. I've heard TSC has brass but haven't checked. I believe they are axle spacers.
  • Thanks for posting. The spacer you have, where do I find that at HD? What is it a spacer for? Thanks in advance!

    Mike
  • Yeah the bone tends to be a bit brighter, but I like using the wood part..a bit warmer sound with nearly no string chatter like ceramic or glass.  Mass does make a difference in sound, the ideal slide for me would be one of my wood topped ones with added weight....something to think on.

  • Hm. Interesting...

  • Yeah, I can't see me picking one type over the other. I like steel with acoustics, and glass or ceramic with electrics. I think the biggest difference is the feel. I do hear a tad more resonance with a ceramic, but would the listener? The length, however... going shorter changed my world. I need to break down and get a bone slide eventually. No experience there yet.
  • Nevermind, I just found it. Crazy stuff.

  • You have any demo vids of that thing, Randy?
