Cohiba Slimline Solid Body

This is my second CBG. It's made from a slim Cohiba box, with the body and neck from one piece of an old oak workbench top. I'm not sure what the fingerboard is, but I dyed it that colour. The back is gloss black plexiglass. It has 2mm side marker dots but I couldn't drill neat 6mm holes in the surface, so it doesn't have fret markers on the fingerboard. For those interested in the techy bits, it has a 24-inch scale, an Artec rails pickup, 250k linear mini pots and a 0.047 capacitor on the tone. The strings are grounded through the tailpiece. I'm still experimenting with neck angle and the action, hence the bit of 6-inch nail for a bridge. That will be a shiny brass rod once I know the right size.Hope you like it.... I just wish I could play it a bit better.

  • Thanks Tor - I've only just started recording with it, so I'm still working on getting the right sound.

  •  That CBG is so beautiful! Great sound to!

  • Thanks John. The trouble is, this gets addictive. I have, in a short time, gone from cobbling something together out of junk in my garage to researching rosewood fingerboard blanks, practicing hand-cut scarf joints and wondering whether a bound fingerboard is possible with the tools that I have. No 3 is sketched out and I'm thinking of fabricating a box to make it from !!

  • Very nice sound. Really good and it looks fantastic too. Top work.

  • Ya better believe it, Mr Digly.

  • Sounds sweet!!

  • Oh man ! You've got the hat styles sewn up. I've decided to make all future appearances behind a screen.  Although you haven't used the turban, I bet someone else on here has claimed it.

  • Have ye seen ma profile photo, Diglay, ma man. Also , ma pal , Simon Mac Cowell's pic (below) You are allowed ta wear a turban (that's the only hat ah've not worn yet btw), and nothin else!  Don't make me send the "hat police roon, ma man LOL

  • Thanks Jamie. Please tell Shuggy Dylan that he can rest easy. I've got a new hat ! Unfortunately, despite having a brim, it hasn't made my playing any better. I'll try to post a pic below:
