cbg#5 vintage Cigar Box Dulcimer

This is a sound demo of an old M.W. Mendel Bros. cigar box Dulcimer. I found the box in my father-in-laws garage. It was filled with old bullets/ammunition. some of the boxes of amo were dated from 1910. Not sure how old the box is...Took about 4 hours to build. The neck is a piece of scrap laying around and the key is from an old door hanging in the rafters.

  • I wish my father in law had tools like that, lol!
  • Good looking build....
  • Oh yes the siren. We live near Fire station #1. I don't hear them any more. :-) Guess that's just part of living in the city. At least there were no gun shots!

    Thanks again.
  • Thanks very much! One thing i should have mentioned is my Father in-law is a very good woodworker/carpenter and helped me setup and use all hes shop tools. It is all top notch stuff including jointers, planers, routers, and table, band, jig saws. So I guess I'm a bit of a cheater when it comes to this "Old School" build...
  • btw that's weird at the end, with the really relaxing music but with the siren in the background!!
  • really nice...amazing you made it in just 4hrs!!
  • That is some old box - very envious!
