Ribbit! A trial run, or hop, before I build a dulci strummer for a client. Never knew dulci's are such fun. Next time I have a picking fool here I'll get some Appalchian stuff demo'd.

  • I didn't get it either until I built one. They are a lot of fun to play. I only build them for people who haven't played before. They can pick it up and sound ok right away. For guitarists, you do think differently on one of these. And yeah, it's not a dulci if it's chromatic.
  • Oh and sorry. I forgot to say in my previous comment how nice that dulcimer sounds. Nice mountain twang. :-)

  • Hmmm...yeah...the dulcimer. Help me out here.

I never understood why people didn't just install those eight or nine "extra" frets. It wouldn't affect the tone or sound of the instrument. And it would make it much more versatile. You can always alternately color the fingerboard like you did to keep that traditional dulcimer look. Is it simply because if you put the extra frets in it wouldn't be considered a dulcimer?

  • Thanks John. Do you know that tune? A Froggy Went Walking On a Summers Day. Next week I'm catching up with a guy who I consider the best CBG player I've heard and might have to get him to demo some Appalachian picking on it.

  • Nice tune, well played.

  • Mr.C, we could get a gang together.
