I hope you'll excuse me posting this. It's not a CBG, but a tool with which you could make a CBG.I'm off to a mates for a jam tomorrow, so I thought I'd fish out my musical saw which I've not practiced for months. The saw and my playing are a little rusty.

  • That looks like a great festival. It's good to see Alejandro giging again after his illness.

  • Alejandro Escovedo is heading over here for the Maverick Festival at the end of June in Suffolk.

  • I went through a phase of buying most of Bloodshot's output. I agree that musically the Wacos have produced some pretty lacklustre albums, but I love Jon Langford. I was at an amazing homecoming gig in Leeds a while back with Jon and the Wacos, Sally Timms, various ex Mekons and The Sadies, now that gig rocked!

  • Trailer Bride are great, as are pretty much any band on Bloodshot Records, except the Waco Brothers, I really can't stomach Jon Langford's voice.

  • Cheers, Chris. I have seen Searching For The Wrong-eyed Jesus, and Melissa Swingle of the band Trailer Bride plays a mean bit of saw. I had been aware of the musical saw, but that film and the first Flatlanders album pushed me to into saw playing.

  • Nice work.

Have you seen the music documentary "Searching for the wrong-eyed Jesus"? There's some good musical saw work on that.

  • Cheers John. You've reminded me, I need to pick up the saw and practice.

  • Does the rust give it a more RUSTic tone? That was great fun. Anyway, there are CBGs in the background. What more could one want. Very well done to you.

  • Thanks Anders.
I love the One flew Over the Cockoo's Nest soundtrack by Jack Nitzsche, its brilliant, and features the musical saw prominently. It was probably the that soundtrack that made me want to play the saw. I might post videos from the gig next month, but only if it goes alright.

  • Thanks folks. I'm a little out of practice, having not picked up the saw for months. I've been over at a friend's today rehearsing for a gig we've got next month, and we arranged a nice version of Edelweiss. Shame I posted this nasty assault on Amazing Grace.
