Guitar pickup winder with auto-transverse wire feed

www.original-flatpup.com - After more than 800 handmade pickups the automatic wire feed is a big step ahead: Gear drive of a dumped printer * especially shaped cam drive disc * adjustable winding range by shifting the eyelet back/forth * string tensioner from 2 clothes pins and a piece of cloth

... there's yet more to tinker: The next goal is to preset the amount of windings and let it roll by itself. Till the hacked display stops at zero.... let's see if there is such a lo-fi hack

That's cool. My winder is based on the lollar design. I don't have a traverse yet, and I still tension by hand. I need to get that figured out because if your fingers get a bit sweaty, it messes with the tension. Even if you put powder on your fingers. Atmospheric conditions rule from day to day of course.

I think my Elmar is the best pickup I have ever heard.

thanks all :-) The side effect of working in a recycling center is that we can pick out ANYTHING from scratch. Tinkster's Paradise! In case of this winder I used a cordless drill, a printer gear, a wire-clothhanger, cable clamps, the clothe pegs, the backsides of a loudspeaker and a radio, a safety pin, the calculator, two wheels of a cassette player, a 3V power adaptor. Well... ok, I bought the hinge at the hardware store.
