A traditional home made stain for wood is iron acetate. You make it at home by putting rusty nails and or steel wool in vinegar. It turns wood with a high tannin content, like oak, black as the ace of spades. Some people try to up the tannin content of their wood by soaking it in tea. It is a very traditional stain and in keeping with the whole cbg mojo.
Also known as nightmare juice.
I used regular food coloring on maple.
