I keep breaking the g string trying to tune it a octave higher than the a string I tuned to g what am I doing wrong im using the a d g string from a 6 string pack trying to tune to g d g tuning

You're not tuning the higher G (3rd string) up an octave higher than it should be, are you?

- Your A tuned down to G should sound like G3, String 5
- Your D string will sound like D4, String 4.
- Your high G should sound like G4, String 3.
