"Songs Inside The Box," the cigar box guitar documentary will be shown twice during the On Location: Memphis International Film Festival. It will open a special block of film for seniors on Friday, April 24th at 12:30 and it will also be shown on Saturday, April 25th at 5:00 p.m. Johnny Lowebow, a Memphis cigar box guitar builder and musician will be present for both screenings to show off some of his instruments and play some of his music. The festival will take place at Malco's Ridgeway Four (5853 Ridgeway Center Parkway Memphis, TN 38120). I'll be there for the Saturday screening. For more information:http://www.onlocationmemphis.orghttp://www.songsinsidethebox.com
It was a cigarbox folk instrument musical extravaganza!!!
This was very cool to have them open before the movie showed. I want to thank Johnny for committing to this 1.5hr music spot. John Showcased his talents as a craftsman, artist & musician in no uncertain order.
Thank you too "Microwave" Dave for hustling up from Alabama and sharing some great tunes.
If you dont want to go to the cigarbox festival after seeing this film you are truely non-motivational.
Thank you to the film marker, crew, artists, performers and supporters for making such a great film.
THE MUSIC was hosted by the Memphis Songwriters Association and provided by local area songwriters & musicians. The music component added to the movie going experience at the On Location: Memphis 10th Annual international film festival.
The Memphis Songwriters Association also worked with the On location: Memphis Board & Committee to coordinate the first annual On Location: Memphis International Film Festival SONG CONTEST. MSA worked with other local music industry organizations to promote the contest and reached out to local area artists soliciting participation for the contest.
This was the first year attempt to provide music and encourage filmakers and musicians to network and work toward future collaborations.
The Memphis Songwriters, Musicians & friends devoted their time to seeing music was a constant element of the festival starting Thursday and ending Saturday.
To all the musicians & friends that volunteered their time and beautiful music we are greatly appreciative.
A very special thank you to our hard working sound crew (Sound donated by Belo & Beez "The Sound Team").
We hope to continue to improve and refine the musical component of the festival in the years to come.
Great job On Location: Memphis!!!!
Here are the artist that play a various times throughout the festival. Your contributions were greatly appreciated by the MEMPHIS SONGWRITERS ASSOCIATION. We are hopeful that next years event will have a larger focus on connecting filmakers & musics. Your willingness to play this event has likely paved the way for greater things to come.
