Taking cues from my cbgs and other guitars, I finished this one this past weekend. 3 strings, oak neck and fretboard, Gitty tuners, floating bridge and a scratch-built pickup. Sounds better than I'd hoped. Guess I'll build another...
Special thanks to my friend Nathan J. Roberts for taking it for its first run.

Yes it is a fine line, but sandpaper can help with most of it.
Lots of interesting things you can do with finishing these days.
Hey Paul. That looks awesome! I assume there's a fine line between burned and charred...:-)
Great looking git. Sounds great too.
Like the finish. I built a amp/speaker cab out of Pine awhile back, burned it with a propane torch and finished it with Truoil. Looked great, you may want to try that on another build. Here's a pic.
Thanks Kigar! The body is what they call a "craft panel" from Lowes. It's just a bunch of pine cutoffs bonded together and planed flat. Sort of a butcher block thing. The finish is Minwax Dark Walnut stain. If you don't treat the pine first, the stain absorbs differently across the grain of the body. From a woodworking perspective, it's not "correct", but I like the look!
Looks and sounds great! Did you burn the finish or some other technique?
