  • Yeah my jumbo smashes my moobs too.Ha moobs!I also don't use boxes more than 2 1/2" thick.I actually have a 1 3/4" deep that sounds and plays great, build quality isn't the best, but it works awesome.

  • I have almost 20 CBGs now with 3 out in the wild.  I've built all of them myself with exception to one TurkeyChicken 3-stringer that I swapped for a stack of extra boxes.  I don't think I have 10 reasons, but mine are:

    1. Pure joy of making something unique myself and hearing the first song it plays for me.
    2. Ditto for hearing someone else play a guitar I've made and gone through the painful transition of giving up possession.
    3. Friends here on CBN and elsewhere who offer positive and constructive feedback for each other's efforts and compliments as playing and building skills develop.

Yeah, I'm tapped out on 3.  Thankfully, I'm 6'3" tall and only just a touch over my "ideal" weight so I don't have the concern about smashing my moobs with a guitar, but I do have to admit that I find the cigar box a lot more comfortable to play than a standard dreadnought acoustic.

  • Been there for sure. Back in the day the cheap ones didn't usually sound good. Never held a tune and just ticked you off. Now it's more of a crap shoot. Some do some don't. I just like making pretty noises. :) Once ya get past wanting to make something of yourself is when you make the most progress. :)

  • Nah,just the dedication.I played my first USA Jackson for 20yrs before I bought another.I have more gits now than I did when I was in the game.

Its not the guitar its the artiste, better guitars just make it easier to play what you feel, not fighting the thing allnight.

    Expression!

  • How can you tell when someone is a real musician? When their guitars cost more than their furniture. *big grins*

  • 306284296?profile=RESIZE_1024x1024Yeah I'm trying to cut down, but I think at last count I had about 30 electrics and acoustics, not counting CBG's!I have a guitar fetish,I love beat up pieces of s#!t and the brand new Jackson King V.

I've been trying to thin the herd, but its hard.I try not to buy POS's or cheapys,so at this point my guitars are pretty cool.Everything is neck-thru or set-neck.Got 5 basses,12 strings, pretty much guitars that are necessary to make music.

  • It's all good Saw. You'll realize fast that I don't take to much serious. :) I have been lucky and have managed to get rid of all the guitars that just take up space. I usually try to unload them if I feel they have bad mojo or can't hold a tune. I'm actually down to about a dozen instruments now, which is good for me. Of course ones a baby grand but who REALLY needs a love seat? lol.

  • If I strung every guitar I own it would be well over $200 bucks.I use cheapys from guitar center, like $2-3 a set.But my "real" guitars I use Ernie ball 10-52's so it gets a little pricey.Whats cool on the CBG thing is I can get 2 guitars strung w/ bottoms, then the lite gauge for another git.Same set.

All my CBG's are different,scale,strings,box,etc.....So that's the art I love about them.

Keep it real,I sent you a friend request, not trying to get funny w/ you, just another soul that loves music.

  • lol
