Flame ON!

So I found an incredible piece of flamed maple...I can't decide whether to slice it up for fingerboard veneer or make a couple complete necks out of it.  I'm really having touble with the decision, lol.  I konw what box /boxes I'm going to apply it to though and they look amazing in my mind's eye...here's to hoping they live up to their potential!

  • I found some nicely curly maple also at my local lumber yard and bought a piece of it about 4' x 12" x 2" thick.

I stored it for about five years before using it for necks.

  • Necks. Definitely necks. Use an alternating wood for veneer fingerboards.
  • I've found the only thing to do with a really nice piece like this is to leave it on the shelf.  I found a few of these at Lowe's and haven't decided to slice and dice them yet.  It's been almost 2 years now.  I think they will eventually look great with some black boxes.
