I am working with a customer that wants a lute (8 string) washtub instrument. I am looking for a builder that can build the neck. Any ideas would be great. I would like to see pic. of their work.
I think that 17 frets will work. No matter how great the headstock looks .. I would not build that again as well. As to scale I'm in a little deep water. Trying to build a "lutetub" (I don't know what else to call it) I think just a cbg neck with eight strings in a lute configuration would work?
Let me know your thoughts.. by the way what was the cost of the neck on the cbg shown without the extreme angle.
What scale length and how many frets? Here's some of my octave mando. All my headstocks are twisted up, but this one is an extreme angle that I won't repeat.
Just for fun, here's a 1/4 scale upright bass my daughter and I made this summer. Pic just before assembling the neck onto the "body."
PM me here if you want to discuss or e-mail badfingerguitar at gmail dot com.
