Thanks for your reply. I have a single piezo on the lid begins the bridge, secured with hot glue as you noticed.
It isn't pinched between the two so maybe I'll try that. I'm tempted to humbucker it, on here or read that a broken solder joint can obviously mess up the volume.
I've only electrified my bass so far. No volume, but it has 3 parallel piezos. can be sensitive to rubbing when the amp is turned up, mostly heard when not playing.
I have two at the neck (on the neck not lid) one up high and one under bridge. The third is on the side of box so I can thump it like a drum.
Running multiples in parallel (all connected straight to jack (knobs/whatever) is supposed to help add volume. Running series (they connect to each other in a chain) is supposed to help with tone. (read that here, have not tried myself). So wiring in another one or two might help with volume. Mine with the 3 is pretty good.
First test lots of static and feedback noises. Can't tell on yours. Looks like you set it in a bed of hot glue? Covering the back of it with hot glue can really help minimize unwanted sounds.
Also making sure that the top and neck 'pinch' the piezo is supposed to help. Yours may not be touching both top and neck.
