Hello again! Many thanks for the great advice. I've got more questions...
I'm building my first 4 stringer. I have a humbucker pick up. I'm considering a fretted neck board. I'd like to use a slide and the frets.
What is a viable action height?
As always Any input is greatly appreciated!

Thank you for the advice...my build continues. It's good pointers to keep in mind as I build! I landed some 300 yr old American chestnut barn wood. Once it's completed I'll share pics
1/8" from the top of the 12th fret crown.
Hi, with my high slide action I get good fingering intonation, I just set the scale length to suit.

I think it really depends on what scale length, tuning and string gauges you're going to use (because of string tension), the weight of your slide and your play style. Higher is better for slide but too high throws off your intonation for fretting. There are some folks with good technique that can play slide with really low action. I'm not one of them. lol I use threaded rod for nut and bridge so I can fiddle around with sizes until I find my sweet spot, which is about 1.75mm at the nut and 2.5mm at the 12th fret, on the guitar I'm currently playing tuned EBe. How's that for not really answering your question. :D
