3 string Story guitar

I'm asking for short stories to put in this weekends build for a fund raiser help boost Picks go-fund-me. True short stories that we all have as a part of our lives. I'll place pages like a thin booklet on back panel that exhibit a few top stories. The guitar will raffle off on the 16th Feb. message me if you're in. I'll have photos up Saturday on 9th.

Here is my story and an example:

2018 Christmas Album?

Just wondering if we're doing the traditional Christmas album again and if so, who's handling the mix?

October Club Outing Lunch&Antiques

We are planning an off site club outing sometime in October. The club will provide food&drink at local establishment and the group will leisurely wander around a dozen huge antique shops in the town of Alton IL. One of the few places on earth we can still respectfully haggle. Here's a few store fronts.

Raffle for Christmas dinners.

Club is getting a head start on fundraising dinners for families in need. Most of us have been there but too proud to ask. We don't wait for folks to ask, we raffle guitars and give away food shopping gift cards.

Jason Weaver donated a beautiful 6string traveler we're drawing on in December. So here is a great idea you can use for your community in your area to give just in time to warm the hearts of many.

St. Louis CBG Club T-Shirt Logo

We held a drawing contest for the clubs logo for 2017-2018 and there were 12 entry's out of which Anonymous pick's entry won. Pretty cool having someone that far away join us down here in the Gateway. I am not ashamed to say I celebrated with an order of smoke rib tips coated in a Cajun glaze over fried rice. …

Fundraisers

Trial and errors of fundraising

We are always learning the do's and don’ts of fundraising. I can share our experiences and how we have been able to improve the overall end results. After all, we are trying to reach a goal to raise money for some cause. Here at our St. Louis Festival, the three of us take turns picking our favorite Nonprofit 501c, has to be legitimate registered organization. Sometimes we pick the same cause two years in a row like this year we are having…

WHICH KEY TO PLAY HARMONICA

The "Key of A" harmonica is a lot deeper than the C harmonica which makes it feel quite different play. The lower keyed harmonicas feel slower to resonate and like they require more air. They will definitely build up your stamina.

The A harmonica will let you play in the key of E (this is the easiest key for guitarists to play).

D harmonica

This is a higher harmonica and it will feel like it responds much…

2017 5th St. Louis MO. CBG Festival

I usually only get a few tags here on the nation but honestly our festival is growing exponentially and local TV and radio plays a big part. I foresee us filling the street and busing folks in just ahead of us because we are over flowing onto the sidewalks now. We remain flexible to change and move on new ideas. Our greatest success is keeping cost down and free to the public. We hire great PR teams and get the event out to a larger crowd. I'm sharing this to not only cultivate interest but…

Starting up a CBG Club

I'll give you a basic run down of how our club got it's start up and how it survived.

It was simple having a place already provided such as the roadhouse. The fact that it is free and centrally located helped. Once we had a location and start up time, getting the word out was the most difficult if we expected anyone to show up. So we knew the first meeting had to win folks over and spread by word of mouth.

In a large room and fleeting moment there was awkward silence. Then…

The CBG's Infectious Desease Control

Information has leaked out that several underground movements using homemade instruments have surface in rural and highly populated areas around the world!

Surveillance photos are no longer needed with the amount of intel coming in through on line media.

We now know the six strings is no longer our main concern. We’re seeing a mass movements in the 4 & 3 string areas spreading like an infection.

Additionally, Bold buskers strumming their hand…

Once a month every 3rd Saturday from 9Am till 11AM we meet at the Hwy61roadhouse to share our builds and play as many sounds as we can squeeze in.

We often mix it up a bit with gift exchanges/swaps and once in a while a member will drop in to give away a stash of boxes or what not.

We decided on a build contest for our next meeting. Three hours may seem like a lot but actually the club has so many things happening at once, before you know it, it's time to go…

Clubs and Meeting Places For CBG's

We're coming up on a full year of clubhouse meetings held every 3rd Saturday each month fallowing our 2nd St. Louis Cigar Box Guitar Festival. Club meetings are fun and important in developing community involvement into homemade instrument & music.

We've met several dozen new friends, some who just happened in off the street and discovered us. Drummers, guitar maestros, singers have embellished us with tasteful hours of entertainment. It's been a very positive supportive group…

The No Rule Policy Vs Rules

I read the conditions being sold as opinions on media related sites.

I love to keep it positive. I like building instruments and sharing with friends. I hope we are not a clique or even snobs. Let us define what it means to be a cigar box guitar. They are boxes that once housed cigars that have been converted into stringed instruments. We all know that. However, with the cigar box guitar comes its many cousins. It is hard to define because there are so many varieties of homemade…
