I've run into a slight setback with this guitar, which I've decided to name La pesada (double meaning: annoying and heavy). The problem lies in the frets. You boys with the planers... I hope you appreciate what you've got. I think my personal planing system - a few hours of sanding back and forth along the fretboard until all the cut marks disappeared - left a bit of a valley in the middle of the board. That's my theory at least.
That wasn't my only problem, however.…

Here's the headstock with the tuners in there. (I should have put the nut in for the picture... Let's hope my photography improves along with my building)
Here's the fretboard with the frets filed down. I still had a few high ones, which I had to go back and pound on a bit, or glue and clamp. I hope I've corrected the problems.

Here's a picture of my signature. I sign it, then trace over it with that little blue screwdriver (I use that tool for everything). I get a nice little groove, then write with a pencil again, filling the groove with the pencil lead. That's it, that's how I've always done my signature on these things. Pretty simple, really.
This is how it will look in it's little frame:…

Not everyone enjoys watching glue dry.
This picture above represents where I was at so far. I like to engrave my signature on my guitars, and I wasn't sure where to put it on this one. I decided to remove that "MONTECRISTO" and put my…

Below is the pickup plate. It's made from the same wood as the neck (African mahogany).
The following picture shows yet another mistake I've run into. Luckily, it's an extremely clean break and it'll be fine to glue together. It looks really good though, after shaping and sanding. This is my first time using a "normal" pickup (as opposed to a piezo). I didn't…

Here are some more pictures of the fretboard progress. The board has some cool (in my opinion, at least) markings on it.
Here's my idea for the body. I'm going to use an old harmonica as the tailpiece. I'm going to use the reeds…

Seeing how it will fit together. That's the fretboard, the top of the box, and the neck. Eventually I got it to fit together just right. Notice the squareness of the heel. That changed soon after this picture
Next I cut the tuner holes and then started shaping the neck with the wood file.…

This is my latest project, which involves several firsts.
I am very excited because I found a great shop which sells quality wood and the delivery was amazingly fast:
www.madinter.com (It's here in Madrid)
I got two necks out of this block:
Yea, that's my lone electric saw. Luckily the wood is 5.5cm wide.…

So this is where I was a week or so ago. I needed to finish the wood and insert the electronics. Oh, and fix the problem with the frets.
I put two coats of varnish on it, sanding after the second. The mohagony wood looks great. The final color constrasts slightly with the box. I was hoping for that. In this picture you can see that I started on the…
