"Hi Tim, well done, it's all part of the learning/building process. Gluing the peghead to the shaft - as you noticed - better hides the glue lines on my guitars. Taff"

"no go on the heat. so i used a flush cut pull saw to cut the glue line. re sanded the angles and re glued it after triple checking for slip.  well its in the clamps and i will see what i have in the morning.."

"well believe it or not that is almost exactly what i did....clamped the neck to a board and also the head stock to the board and several clamps across the scarf joint. i just didn't notice the headstock slip a bit as i tightened the clamp...…"

neck fretted and how not to do it!

finally got the nerve to fret the neck and ran out of glue half way through. so i got some more glue today i am using Loctite Gel Control in a silver bottle with blue side grips. worth the $5.80 AUD it cost. the other glues i tried either took too long to set or soaked into the wood and didnt stick to the frets.

Hi everyone, my name is tim.

I have been playing guitar on and off ( mostly off tune) since i was about 13 when my step father found a handmade guitar under someones house when he was installing telephones back in 1973.

 I have seen Cigar Box Guitars around over the years and always wanted to have a go with one. So i figure now is the time to start and after reading through the forums here and a intensive 3 week google self education binge it time!
