What do you find most interesting about cigar box guitars? (If you do not enter something meaningful here, your membership may be rejected).
I own a dozen shop bought guitars so I'm really excited about creating something individual. I'm also getting into more rootsier sounds like Delta blues so looking forward to playing slide. I've started a band with a 50's Sun Studio vibe, so really enjoying designing and building original basses to use with band.

New band!

I had a 4 year break from performing and songwriting (I figured I needed one after 30 years!) I started a  new band due to the persistence of a drummer acquaintence of mine - drummers are certainly persistent!

After jamming covers with him and a guitarist friend using the cigar box bass I made last year, I started writing new songs this year and have got about 5 ready.  Another 3 or 4 and we will start gigging them and releasing an album so quite excited.

I have of course been inspired by my cigar box guitar hobby and use as many of the instruments I have so far made in my writing and recording.  This has led to me searching out new acts on Spotify who play a more rootsier sound and have been delighted to discover some brilliant talent.  I could list dozens but I must mention and recommend The Bones of JR Jones, Jimbo Scott and Ben Miller Band.

The Parklands by Jimbo Scott

Being a big fan of Elvis, Eddie Cochran and Johnny Cash (amongst others) I am concentrating on writing and producing a more raw sound, so when they are ready I'll put up some links for you folk to hear.  Cheers!
