How did you learn about Cigar Box Nation?: Internet

How many instruments have you built so far?: None but I have purchased one, a 3 string and am trying to learn.

What do you find most interesting about cigar box guitars? (If you do not enter something meaningful here, your membership may be rejected).: Most interesting would be the sounds that people like Justin Johnson can get out of this simple instrument. He says anyone can learn to play it. Hope he is right. I have owned a Spanish guitar, Fender Strat, Peavey Base, Dobro, Mandolin, 4 and 5 string banjo's. Could never teach myself to play any of them.

As I am new to this page,

Being new I have been looking all over CB Nation trying to figure out where I should ask my questions. So question 1 is where do I enter my questions?

I do not have much sustain. I am playing thru a acoustic 10w power amp. Not sure if it is my cbg, my amp or just me. Suggestions?

I have a terrible time when I attempt to use a slide. I have a brass metal one and a all glass one. When I try to slide up the neck the fret's sound like a motor boat. Trying to bar using a slide sounds horrible. lots of fret rattle. I wonder if my strings are too close to the frets. I have thought about putting something under the nutt to raise the strings. Is this a good idea, or would I just be making many more headache's than I want to get into? Help please.
