Leaving the top free to resonate?
On my first build I secured the neck to the top, for simplicity, and so I could still open the bottom (back) of the box without de-stringing it (to work on the electronics).

When I did my first cbg, it was a bass, using nylon weed whacker strings. As a result, I have "a little" left over.
ok, I have this cigar box bass essentially complete, wired a volume control, .2 micro-farad cap to knock down the "growl" a little, and a toggle switch to put the "growl" back in, just in case....."overdrive switch" on a cigar box??
The last thing I want to do is take anything away from the folks on here who sell quality pickups. But I stumbled across some of this stuff on ebay and wondered if anyone has ever tried it. Is it Cheap? Junk? or both?
