Magnetic pickups, both single-wound and humbucker, are becoming a more and more popular addition to a CBG build. Both are now inexpensive and offer several advantages in terms of tone and absence of unwanted box noise.
I wanted to run the Roland Cube 10GX amplifier by a battery for my cigar box guitar.
As with most Roland stuff, this amp has some great tones, will get very loud and costs $129. The Roland Cube 10GX is normally powered by a 5.7 volt DC/120 volt [USA]
It looks like most electric guitars and some acoustic guitars have a 10" to 12" radius in the fret-board and strings. Why are the strings arranged to have a radius? What am I missing here, something about strumming or picking?
I built a 3-string CBG a few weeks ago and the paper covering it is beginning to show wear where it contacts my leg. The build came out nice and the tone sounds awesome so I would like to keep it looking nice.
