    Thank you for the email and comments.
    To answer your questions.
    No, they don't have truss rods. and they are actually tenor guitars with a 19" (485mm) scale. (Think of the nut at the 5th fret.) I tune them (lo-hi) D,A,D,F#. Strings .038, .028, .018, .014
    I've made them of one piece of wood  but usually glue up a block of several pieces for strength and looks.

    Typically I'll use Maple, Mahogany, Cherry. Sometimes from wood cut offs or taken apart furniture.
