which strings should i use from a six string pack for a gdg open tuning? I popped a string today trying to get the g and I am wondering about my string choice.

Wiring a single coil to volume pot
Any suggestions on how to wire a single coil to a volume pot? Everything is recycled off of an old guitar. The volume pot is 500k.

Are there any special tools needed to clean up old pickups? I picked up an old Hondo guitar off CL for $25 bucks and it needs a good cleaning before I can break it up to use on other builds. What do you use to clean rust spots off the magnets?
