I like the DIY aspect of it. the fact that pretty much anyone has the ability to play some form of music. And it was easier to learn than 6 string traditional guitars. plus you look way cooler playing one. Every schmuck tries to learn how to play guitar but not many try to learn how to build one and then learn how to play it.
