Shellac for potting?

Is the insulation on most coil wire shellac? If so, any reason I should NOT use it to pot? Potting helps any loose windings from vibrating?

High Pitch Static/Noise Source

My first set of pickups or something in the wiring is causing a high pitched buzz. Any thoughts on possible cause? I tried connecting the strings to ground. When tone is lowest it's not so bad. Higher tone = rather distracting!
