making glass slides

I tried cutting a glass slide from a wine bottle using a Dremel-type rotary tool, employing a diamond-headed engraving accessory. That seemed to be an advance on the old manual wheel-driven glass cutter. But it didn't work. So what happened? Than

strings too high?

Naturally, this is "slide only" because of string height. I don't know the remedy for this - in my limited skill.
