Strat style pick up not "reading" all strings

Hi all have made 9 CBG's so far and the two last have some pick up issues, both have single Strat style pick ups. #8 0nly registers amplified sound when the tone and volume pots are fully cranked and the little 9 v battery amp is cranked up too. #9

My first efforts

Well here are my first efforts it has been great fun building these basic CBG's the first the prototype is for me to keep and the others are for two of my brothers (who already play mean guitar) and the third is for my father inlaw

String height

Hey you builders how high is a reasonable string height at the nut for an unfretted CBG??????

I may have set it a bit high, the four I have made lowest at 5mm, thru to about 8mm
