I have a problem. Its been 2 weeks since my last build and I am starting to crawl up the walls. Since February I have endulged my desires and now have 7 Homemade guitars with 4 more already planned! My Strat sits dejected in the corner as I spend all my time playing blues on a cheap wooden box.
But dont worry. I will atone for my sins but I can absolve you, but you must be honest and accept that you have a problem!

They are multiplying faster than I can build. I have my Cookie tin done, my first Cigar Box is together and playing and my amp is together. I have two more Cigar Boxes waiting, a two bottle Wine Box that seems like it wants to become a lap steel and today a friend(?) shows up with three more Cookie Tins that have enough personality that they will need to be built. Good thing I'm retired! Question is...should I store them separately so they don't breed more while I'm trying to build the next one or just let them mate and see what I end up with? Oh yeah, I almost forgot. There is a 6 foot long hardwood roller from a window shade that seems to be saying something to me about needing to become the neck for a single string stand up bass. Is it just me or do i have the beginnings of a slight problem here. Thanks for listening. I know these voices aren't real, but they have some really good ideas anyway. Life is good on the lunatic fringe.
Thomas, you are certainly not alone and I dont offer cures. Brother you are righteous in searching out guitar parts. Today i bought two bashed up copy strats for bits. Oh and a 1965 Eko acoustic which I will simply restring and keep. This adds to an already riduculus guitar collection and circa 30 boxes awaiting conversion.. Have fun, life is too short my friend.
OK...I may need some help. :)> I now have parts for three cigar box builds, and an amplifier, I'm thinking about a quick build on the side of a canjo and today I walked into the garden shed and looked at the handle of the pick axe and saw a three string bass. Is it me, or is there something in the air?
Just getting started with this obsession. Built a Cookie Tin Resonator and have two wood boxes in the wings for my next builds. Looking at many future builds and hearing Delta Blues in my sleep. Made my first slide out of a 5/8" Craftsman deep socket, (fit my finger and I couldn't help myself). Not really looking for help with the problem, just enjoying the knowledge that I'm not alone. :)>
Clearly you have a calling Bama. I suggest that your wife needs to feel included in your pastime. Why not suggest that she brings you cold beer at regular intervals. This way she will feel part of the process. Good building brother.
What is it about the spring weather that gets my juices flowing for CBGs? Made two necks this weekend and re-sawed lumber for fretboards, bridges, and nuts. Wife is again pissed that I am spending so much time in the garage.
Ah! I can see some deviance here. And an Altoid Dulcimer has many freudian references. But one thing is certain, your shame has now been lifted as you have shared this with your brothers and sisters. Go forth and strum your stick.
Oh and Triplestrings, great words of encouragement, maybe you have something to share too?
I like it. Unforgivable!!! :-)
Nice job Charlotte, it looks like your new rasp is working well.
