Don't know if this is the right place for this, but I was wondering if it's possible to build your own amp from a computer sound card. I'm basically electronics and computer illiterate, but I got some old computer sound cards for nothing and wondered if they could be used to make an amp? Anyone done this?

I had heard that running the guitar through a computer didn't work well, just wondered if there was a way to hack the board and use part of it for a battery powered amp.
You can't do it. Regular computer sound card don't work in real time. I have tried to play guitar trough regular computer sound card. Guitar sound came too late trought speakers. I have special sound card what is made for recording etc. With this I can play my guitar trought comupter in real time.
