Having problems with a 1959 Silvertone 9014

Hi guys,

Newbie here. This is my first conversion. Not sure where my problem lies. Also just learning to solder, so you have to suspect every connection with me. I've got a working 1959 Silvertone 9014 Twin Speaker like this one (not my video):

I've got a mono jack mounted with wires soldered to the jack, just need to figure out where to connect 'em. No luck so far just using the volume potentiometer, as I've seen recommended. Is the gauge of the wire super important?

I've got photos of the circuit board, if that will help anyone. (Posting the question before the photos, as I took the SD card out of the computer for sumpin' and need to locate which one my pics are on.

Talked to somebody in chat that had done lots of Silvertones and he soldered his red wire from the jack to the underside of the circuit board somewhere. Just wondering how you figure out where to do that.

  • just use alligator clips and randomly start touching areas, it will turn on, ..you can clip and unclip it all over till you find the hot spot
