GE radio

I went to an estate sale yesterday and came back with this in hopes of making a amp out of it, I know a battery powered model is a better starter project but this thing sounds awesome! Now I have no idea what I'm doing with this stuff and have a few questions: while researching the radio to amp process I saw that a " tone generator was needed can I use a multi tester set for conductivity in place of the tone generator? Am I going to electrocute myself it's a transistor radio not a tube type? I've done considerable searching on here and Handmade Music Clubhouse and there's not much info on AC powered conversions any other thoughts on where I could find any info?

  • All I can tell you for sure is to convert it to a grounded plug before you do anything else. I have an AC radio that I converted and did not do that in the beginning. I was getting low level shocks while playing. Changing it to a grounded plug took care of the problem.
