playing slide on a fretted guitar is a compromise, fretless is easier as it usually has the string action set higher and you can really dig in but have to be more careful on a fretted fingerboard as the action is lower and could catch the frets with the slide. :-)

In my opinion this is like saying 'if you never take the training wheels off your bike, you'll never need to learn to ride it'.

Ry Cooder doesn't rip his frets out, neither did Muddy. I think if you work on your technique maybe you could have your cake and eat it too :)

yep i enjoy my cake, i really had beginners in mind, obviously when you've had a lot of practice things will come easier :-)

the other cbg will be fretless.

but it is nice to have at least one fretted.

well we've all got to start some where haven't we ?

obviously I've got a canny bit to learn but hopefully have fun in doing so.

that's what it is all about having fun and at 63 I've still got plenty of time god willing.

I've already had one little battle with cancer and so far good minus one kidney.

I'm sure this will be fun on these cbg's.

I did play a couple of  simple tunes on my bass but I didn't want to go through all the theory stuff.

even on my 3 string guitar I could play the 1st few chords? of the shads apache also smoke on the water on my bass to.

but once I had to stretch ma fingers!! oh oh need to work on this but old theory came into this so I gave up having lesson's.

and that was 5 years ago.

hopefully with cbg I can make my own as there is no rules as I understand it.

we'll see how things pan out. john

yep got it today and very pleased with it.

my its little!! my son like it to and he thinks its great.

he like the 2 stringed bass guitar to.

I'll have a go at making them to.
