I've been shipping my pickups(small packages) all over the world and didn't really have an issue with shipping costs, until now.
A customer contacted from Canada and asked me if I would sell one of my Whiskey Crate Stompers. I thought, sure, why not? I gave him a fair price and told him free shipping. It cant' cost that much to ship a .4 lb item from the states, right? Well, best price I could do was $45. Anyone have tips on reducing shipping costs? I do ship about 15 items each month.
Thanks,
Wade

Thanks Guys. Three strikes against me I guess. the box was slightly larger than needed, price paid on reverb is automatically added info and it does the shipping cost automatically. Damn, what would shipping a guitar cost!?!
i buy guitars from us all the time . shipping usually hovers around 40 to 60 bucks .. and thats a full size regular store bought electric . cbgs should be cheaper for the weight .
so $45 for a stomp box blows my mind .. unless you protected it with sand or lead ;-)
here's a few tips . .
- use / make a box closest to the actual size of the item (allowing for reasonable packaging protection )
- avoid the use of an online shipping calculator .(most are not even close to accurate.)
- remember that the "claimed value " also affects the price , as does sending as a "gift" etc... or not .
keep the weight down too, if you can .
