Hi, so I'm a college student from rural Oklahoma. I go to the University of Oklahoma during the school year, but I've been home for the summer. Been kinda lounging around for most of the summer, doing some work in our garden for farmers market to get some money, but mostly a lot of nothing right up until about two weeks ago. That was when I found myself fascinated with cigar box guitars.
It all started when I found myself looking for stuff to make on Instructables.com (great site, btw), and I hadn't really found anything that caught my eye enough to bother until I came across this plan for an altoids tin guitar. Teeny little thing. Anyway, so I took that idea and worked with it a bit in a night and morning of frenzied effort to make what came out to be a little two string thing (didley bow, as I later found out) and it actually could make a bit of sound with a slide. Well, in the process of looking around for ideas on how to make it, I saw mention of cigar box guitars, which got me thinking. However, when I got those first few bluesy notes of success, I was hooked.
Long story short, I got to work on making a CBG (with lots of wisdom off of here) and I'm approaching the end of the build. I got it to where I could put the thing together temporarily to find problems last night and it sounded pretty great. Another day or two and I should be done, probably posting pics and such. It's pretty janky little thing, but downright handsome if I do say so myself. Love of a parent, I guess, ha ha.
So yeah, there's what I've been up to. I'm on here pretty often if you have any questions about me or my build.

Hey Buck!
Can't wait to see the pics. How many strings on your first CBG? Ogger
