One down, many many to go...

Hi everyone. I'm a theatre tech and prop builder, but I've never made any kind of (working) musical instrument before. I found a couple of nice cigar boxes while thrifting at Goodwill, and  figured that there had to be something cool I could do with them. I do that kind of thing sometimes.

I've been lurking CBN for about a month while trying to work up the courage to cut into my first cigar box. I finally managed to build my first CBG the other day out of a 5 Vegas box, and I love the way it looks and sounds.  So, now I;m hooked. Can't wait to make a whole bunch more. This first one was deliberately bare-bones simple, but the next ones will include more advanced features. I think I'll start with frets.

After that, maybe I can learn to play them....

There are a few more pics in my Photo Gallery if anyone's interested.

  • Thanks, Kyle! I just finished my second one today, using the exact same cigar box as the first one. I also started on two more. This is turning into a bit of an obsession....
