New here

Hey, my name's Alex, I'm from Alabama and I just recently got into the CBG craze. I was looking up info on bulding guitars and stumbled over a video talking about CBG's. One look was all it took to do me in, haha. I've been cruising this site for about a month now, gatthering information on everything needed to build a CBG and just finished building my first yesterday. It's a little rough, but I'm extremely pleased that i was able to finish it and have it be playable afterwards, haha.

Anyhow, just dropped by to introduce myself and I'm looking forward to one-upping myself on my next build, after I get a bit more information that is.

Here's a picture of my 3-string CBG...

  • Hey, thanks for the warm welcome. I do have a lot of questions and a good bit of plans for my next build. I know I'm either gonna do another 3-string or maybe a 2-string...(whatever they're called.) I'll definately be contacting one of you if I have any questions.

SuprrrNaut - Haha, I think pressure sometimes works in you favor...kind of like a dealine or something, :D.

Jess - Thanks, I will, much obliged.

Mark Bliss - Yeah, I know. I was kinda stubborn with it and thought it wouldn't matter. They're cutting into the wood and losing tune just a hair bit. That's just something else I'll have to change on my next one.

    Michael Glenn - Thanks.

  • That's pretty nice for a first build!  Welcome to the Nation!
  • Looks good Alex, and congratulations!

Just a suggestion, some grommets in the string holes on your tailpiece would help your setup stay in tune much better, look in the building group and do a search. (Its been discussed a hundred times.) Or studie some of the builds in the photo galleries.

Have fun and I look foward to your future builds.

    Mark

  • Alex, welcome to the Nation.  Yes, it is a great place to share and glean information, and I know you'll find it enjoyable as you move along.  Your first attempt is great!  Now, you have the basis for your imagination to go wild, so let's see what transpires.  If I can ever be of help, just fo to my page and leave a note, or go to my blog and take a look around, and leave a note there as well.  Happy trails, Jess.
  • Mighty awesome first build. Guess we have more great guitars to look forward to from you. (no pressure. lol)
