Hello everyone. I just recently got bit by the CBG bug and have been obsessed ever since. I would like to first, thank all of you for the wealth of knowledge on this site (it has been a source of info and inspiration) and second, show off my first build. It is my own take on a cigar box guitar. I handmade a box out of pine an birch plywood, slapped on a piece of oak for the neck and some kitchen parts to make it a resonator. I call it a "Pine Box Resonator". It is tuned open G and is fretless. I created a website to document the build process at http://hortonguitarworks.com/ I must say that I have been having a ball playing this thing. I have played 6 string for years and this was super easy to pickup and very fun for improvising. Once again, thank you all for the inspiration.

Welcome, Brian!
I'm still in my first year here, also from Oregon (Eugene). Downtown Vinnie will be hosting the Cigar Box Guitar Fest Northwest on June 4th. If you are anywhere nearby, maybe we could connect there.
And beautiful build, by the way.
Cheers!
Cigar Box Guitar Fest Northwest
Wow, I had no idea there was a CBG festival in Oregon. I am down in Medford. Unfortunately I have prior commitments that weekend but I am definitely putting it on my schedule for next year. Thank you for letting me know.
That's a pretty smart looking first build. You sure you've not done this before? ;-)
Thank you. This is actually the first "woodworking" project that I have done since Junior High wood-shop class, many, many moons ago. I am finding a new hobby not only in building guitars but woodworking in general as well.
Nice instrument :)
Can you help me build a website like yours?
Thank you.
I just went to wordpress.com and signed up for a free site and followed their instructions. I did end up paying for a domain ($18 per year) because I wanted hortonguitarworks.com instead of hortonguitarworks.wordpress.com.
Welcome to the Nation, Brian. Nice looking first build, the next ten will be even more fun. Don't worry about quitting, it's not really possible. :)>
Thank you. I have this sneaking suspicion that you are absolutely correct, I have already begun planning #2 and have Ideas for #3. I guess that it is not possible to quit.
