Hello. I am 60 and live in Moline Illinois.
I have been a member of Cigarbox Nation for a while now but never introduced myself. I play guitar, mando, bass and other stringed stuff since 64, I was raised on bluegrass, country, folk and classical music.I have played professionally, but mostly these days I play in church or jam with friends.
I actually built my first cigar box guitar in 1964 for a talent show in grade school. It was made from a White Owl cigar box with fishing line strings, and was in a card board shaped guitar body.
I have build a couple cigar box 3 string Open G guitars and a 4 string mandola. I recently built a little cigar box amp and I am currently building a electric CBG. As I like Americana traditional music, I am trying to keep my instruments simple and traditional and use a many recycled parts as possible, and each one gets a little better.
I am always looking for a jam or to swap building tips, so if you are in or near the QCA,
LETMEKNOW.
