Introducing myself.

Hi everyone my name is Rex.

I live in Shetland.

I have built a couple of prototype instruments, a 21 key balafon a 12 string donso
n'goni and 2 partially built koras. An akonting is what I am working on now
and I have discovered how little I know.
Neck angles, nuts, oscillations, were part of bedroom sports, I thought.
Anyhow, I am here hopefully to learn more and to join a bunch of people who
are willing to go back and play instruments that they have made.
I do have a problem though, I cannot play any instruments apart from
harmonica. With hand drums I am now proficient So I've alloted myself a time
span of 50 years to learn how to play the balafon, the donso n'goni and the
kora and of course the Akonting.
Regards,
Rex.
p.s. I was born in 1936

  • Welcome aboard Rex. I'm from 1946 and thought I started late, thanks for the inspiration.
