I got interested in GBGs after seeing my brother-in-law's marvelous efforts ( he's a carpenter!).
So I got me a couple of cigar boxes and a piece of oak from an old sofa and off I went. The resulting 3 stringer came out not too badly, considering my poor woodwork skills. The splashes of blood from cut fingers add to the rustic look. I tuned it GDg and it sounds really nice, especially thru the amp. I'm hooked!
I've now just built a "chugger" following the video by Glen Watt. Beech broom handle neck, Cuban plywood cigar box and leftover strings from the first built, tuned Ee.
I've now assembled the makings of a posh 3 stringer. Nice new red eucalyptus neck, a packet of tuning pegs and two Cuban boxes (I've already spliced them together). This one will have frets, unlike my previous builds. Slow and steady she goes. I don't imagine that its going to be in the same league as some of the beauties I've seen snaps of though!
Cigar box nation has been a great inspiration to me - thanks fellers.

There is a great feeling of doing it yourself. Post some photos as your ideas may inspire another. I don't always like the most skillful work best. I also need to post some more of my work.
