Howdy, from Eagle Island, Idaho

Hello folks. I'm Charlie in Eagle Idaho.  I've been a long time lurker, short time builder, (3) and no time musician.  I'm still leaqrning to play, so won't post any vid's. Don't want to drive anyone away.  A friend at work introduced me to CBG's, and I've really been hooked.  I built one for myself, one for a friend and am working on the third.  I've been lurking on the Nation for almost a year now for the Tech. help and how-to-play vid's.  I want to thank you all right here for all the great help.  Keep up the great stuff!

Cheers, Charlie

  • Hi Charlie, welcome to group therapy for your new addiction. Your guitars look amazing. There's tons of instructional videos here and on YouTube. You'll be playing in no time.
  • Hi Charlie, nice looking builds. Welcome to the addiction, er, Nation. It's just like the hot rodding hobby. Ya can't really quit. Been into things automotive since the mid '50s as a spectator and built my first drag racer in '62. Still at it today, but the CBGs are a great hobby for when the car projects are waiting on parts and money.

  • Really nice builds Charlie!

I especially like the hidden res cone and the re-purposed Delta 88 emblem.

Player or not, you really should at least post a sound test/sample! I'd like to hear those!

Thanks for the kind words.  I'm very low-tech here and don't have any vid equipment. I'll see if I can get someone to record and help me get some sound bits posted.  I just got out of the hot rod hobby, too expensive, so my guitars will have some sort of car theme.  The one I'm working on now will be a resonator using a Rambler hub cap and a "Rebel" fender script.  I'm scrounging around for "Terraplane" stuff for another build.

      Thanks again,

      Charlie

    • Cool theme, I'm a hardcore "car guy." And motorcycles. And guitars. And banjos. And fiddles. And.... (Well you get the idea!)

Rebel script might take some looking, but I bet its out there. Terraplane though...... I suspect might be a tough search!

      Sounds fun!
