A little about me....
I'm Greg, a 36 yo guy from Northern Ireland. I'm married, with 4 sons ( 6, 5, 3, and 8 months).
I've been playing the guitar on and off for about 15/ 20 years, but never very well. I grew up playing grunge and nu-metal so I never needed anything technical, I know the basc chords, but not much else. I've tried on occasions to learn the fretboard, notes, and scales etc but I've never been able to motivate myself to stick with it. I have huge admiration for people who have those skills, but its just not for me.
I listen to and love all types of music, but recently I've been getting into old blues ( Son House, Muddy Waters, Robert Johnson etc) as there's something so raw and heartfelt about it. It's just so pure.
So how did I end up here? Well I've got my wife to thank for that because for christmas this year she bought me a guitar in a box. It was a basic balsa wood pre-made "cigar box' guitar kit. I'd never seen anything like it, but once i got the strings on and began to play it was a revelation. The tone, and the feel, and above all the pure simplicity of it actually blew me away. It just fitted with how I play and how I feel about the guitar, no fancy techniques, no notes, no scales etc( now I appreciate there is all this in blues but at that moment for me there was none of it!) just this amazing sound and rawness.
So the next step is to build a 'proper' CBG which will be unlike anything I've attempted before ( I'm not exactly skilled with my hands) but I can't wait to get it underway and see what happens....

Welcome, Greg!
I had a very similar reaction top this world when I found it last summer - it sounds and feels like the heart of music. Now I'm 7 builds into it and having a ball.
All the best!
