Hi all,
A couple of weeks ago I accidentally introduced myself via an email sent out to everyone on this group instead of a post on the discussion forum.
Sorry about that. I won't post the whole thing again, but here is the link to some photos of my first cigar box guitar.
This one is fretless and acoustic. The resonator gives it a nice banjo-like tone, and I've been having lots of fun playing it, but I've already got plans for another one that will have frets, and maybe a peizo. I look forward to asking lots of questions on the forums here.
Cheers,
Scott

High Scott looks really great and we'll finished. My first build was fretted with two mag pick ups, and made from an old wooden chair. The neck and pick ups salvaged from a scrap cheap Strat copy, and I reduced the width of the neck for 3 string playing, sounds ok. Might build another one sometime but with short stubby fingers I need a very thin neck, the modified Strat neck is still to thick for me.
Welcome Scott, great looking CBG.
Welcome mate I’m in Hobart if you need a hand give me a shout .
Thanks Jeff. I'm in Launceston, but it sounds like there's quite a few cbg enthusiasts around Tassie.
I haven't quite worked out exactly what I want to do with the next one yet. I've got another piece of myrtle the same as the one I used for the neck on the first guitar, and a nice looking San Cristobal box. I definitely want to add a thickish fretboard on top of the neck so I can get a low action on the strings without them being too close to the box.
I think I want to try an angled headstock as well. The piece of myrtle I have is thick enough that I could carve it all as one piece, but doing a scarfe joint might be a better way to go. I have very little woodworking experience apart from building a few things around the garden. Almost everything I know I learned while building that first CBG, so I'm still not very confident that I won't make a mess of the next one. We'll see.
Welcome aboard Scott!
