Hello from Houston, Tx.

Just joined this site.  I don't have a Cigar Box Guitar, but have a 4 string tenor banjo that I'm starting to play Blues on.  I stumbled across this site and Keni Lee Burgess' video on playing the 4 string CBG while searching the internet.  The 4 string Cigar Box Guitar tuned DGBD is exactly what I was looking for and is tuned basically the same as a 5 string banjo which is have been playing for a while.

Looking forward to picking up playing tips, information that I can transfer to the 4 string banjo.  Maybe one day I'll even get a Cigar Box Guitar.

    Hi Gerald, I've got used to playing in that open tuning. I can play in any key using it. I don't think i could use other tunings without getting very confused now. I don't have a video yet, but now know how, sort of, to make one. I do have CDs from two bands and a new CD coming out soon as we get the graphics done for the cover. You can hear one tune on my page from Better Late than Never.

    Hello, I play tenor banjo also. I've made several 4 string box guitars and tune them like my banjo. I use GDGD (from top down). It's like your tuning, but mine comes from playing 3 string strum sticks. I also play DADA for long neck babies. Welcome to CBN. You'll like it. ....

      Thanks for the reply. I'd like to hear that tuning on the banjo. Do you have any videos of you playing? Maybe one day I'll build a CBG.
