Hello all. My name is Chris and I live in beautiful Southern California. I'm not sure where I first learned about CBG's, but there was a link to a vid of the great Shane Speal. My intrigue with CBG's grew and I eventually found this amazing site. I have been lurking for a bit, and am very impressed by the incredible guitars that I see here. I have also noticed how the community here always seems so willing to offer words of advice to the struggling beginner.
I have finally started to build my first CBG. While I originally planned on doing a four string, I have such a nice piece of maple for the neck I feel compelled to do a six string. Here is a what I am working with:
- Arturo Fuente box with alder corners and mahogany braces for support
- Hard maple neck
- Wenge fretboard
- Gold Crunchy PAT Humbucker (going to coil tap) from Guitar Fetish
- Gold Bridge (also from GF)
- Gold tuners from CB Gitty (great customer service!)
- Brass corners from CB Gitty
- Fretwire from CB Gitty
I am fortunate to have a friend who is a master wood worker who is helping me out with the build, which is part of the reason I am trying a six string. I plan on doing a 4 string one on my own for my next build. I will post some pics of the finished guitar of course, but here are some pics of what I have so far.
Any words of advice are most welcome.
