Hi, I'm Scott. I've half heartedly tried learning to play a few instruments over the year, most recently a ukulele. I figured with four strings, one per finger, I'd finally get it. I learned a few chords but never really got the hang of it.
I ran across CBGs one day on a random search and was intrigued. Only three strings and I get to build it myself. I'm a much better craftsman/tinkerer than I've ever been a musician. So while at a swap meet looking through some old license plates, my seven year old son and I found a California plat he liked and determined to build a guitar out of it.
We've been working on it together for a few weeks and it's almost done, just final assembly needed now. Cherry body, fretted maple neck, and a single humbucker pickup. Hopefully it will be done by this weekend. I also built a very simple slide guitar for myself from a craft store box.
Thanks to CB Gitty for parts, Shane Speal and countless others for the YouTube videos on building and playing, and all of you here for all the posts. Once we're done I'll try to post up some pics.
Scott

Great job, like the hook on the headstock to hang it. He looks very happy.
Now where's the pics of the Ducati? ;)
Yeah.... The Ducati.... It was backed over by a very nice old lady who also had very good insurance, so it was totaled but I got a nice check. These things happen. No one got hurt so it's all ok in the end :) I've had two more bikes since then.
Welcome Scott. Good to see a Dad and Son project in the works.
