First time builder, getting confused with what types of boxes are best

So I’ve got a thousand ideas, which my wife hates. The two questions that I’ve not been able to solve via google are very basic. A) What are the best types of boxes to use, I’ve just picked a 5 or 6 some of them are "squarish" and fairly deep whilst a couple of others are more rectangular and shallower. B) I was going to start with just a basic neck and no fretboard. How important is a fretboard if I’m doing this fretless? Sorry, if my questions are very basic and I’m sure that the answer is somewhere but I just couldn’t find it.

Bob,

   Site issues. When replying sometimes the poster has to first go to the html editor tab before they send.

That being said, In my experience there is no right answer to your question.. It depends on what you are building. I generally build my guitars around the box and see what kind of sound I get out of them. I do think that the deeper ones tend to ring better for an acoustic as long as they are not to thick, But that's just my opinion.

Experiment with it and find what suits you best.
